Hi Friends of Bestwood Country Park
Attached is our February news sheet with details of all our regular events.
You’ll see that our monthly meeting will be on Thursday 15th this month –
all are welcome who support the park.
ANDY’S ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND NEWS
The playground situation will be discussed again at our meeting on 15
February, but I know you will want to know the story so far:
We heard from the County Council, after their meeting with Gedling Borough
Council officers – attached is a copy of their email text to keep you
updated. As you see from the final paragraph, in the long term some major
expenditure will be needed for the future. Neither Council can afford this,
although interim repairs are being planned so as to be able to re-open it in
the meantime. So Friends group have put in a bid for funding from the County
Council’s Local Improvement Scheme. There are other possible sources of
funding that we have in mind for possible bids, too. And we have received
heartening possible offers from contacts in the Parish Council and the
Bestwood Village Community Health Project to contribute to the funding pot.
Friends group will of course itself also be contributing, and will be
contacting local Councillors for more help. If you can, please add your
voice to ours, talk to your local Councillor (County Council and/or Gedling
Borough) or MP, so that we can move ahead on this as soon as possible! Sue
McDonald is keeping in touch with the Maycock family, to make sure they are
involved in planning.
AND FROM MY INBOX, FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT – LINE DANCING!
Our good friends and near neighbours – Friends of Moor Pond Wood – are
organising a fund-raiser evening of line dancing in March, with instruction
and Caller, AND with a pie and peas supper, in aid of their Moor Pond Woods
Project. Interested? Please see poster attached – with details of how to
